Oswestry Olympians celebrates 11 years of our annual Sprint triathlon.

Based at Oswestry School on Sunday the 10th May 2015, the race will offer one transition area. All we ask is that you bring suitable footwear over to the pool area for the jog back to transition approx 250m away.

The race incorporates a 400-metre pool swim. A 26km, rewarding, sometimes technically challenging bike, with fast descents, and to finish a 5km, 3 lap run of an undulating sports ground. The pool swim, quiet country roads, and traffic free run course makes it an ideal race for novices and young competitors, (minimum age 15yrs Youth).

We also offer a relay option, where three athletes each complete one discipline. The race is very popular and as in previous years, we expect the entry list to fill up quickly. On reaching the entry limit we will keep a small waiting list to replace those who have to withdraw.

Trophies

For top three male / female places overall, and for first in all categories, male / female.

Goodie bag / race momento for all finishers.

Timing

The Pool Swim is 400 metres and the first swim is planned at 9.00 am.

The Bike section of 26km is out on quiet roads with a hill or two!!!

Our 5km Run is on an undulating sports field.

Entry Fee

£35 (BTF £5 refund on production of valid licence at race),
Relay Team £40 (No BTF refund)

Full refund if race entry given until 2 weeks before closing date, after which a your entry will be deferred until next years race.

Introducing the OSWESTRY AREA COMMUNITY CHALLENGE

This year we want to encourage relay team entries from local sports clubs and associations who would not normally participate in Triathlon to come and compete in the event.

The aim is to find out who the fittest non triathletes are generate a great community atmosphere (and some friendly rivalry) at the event.

If you are part of a local club and would like to take part we are offering some reduced cost relay entries. For more details, or just to keep up to speed with news about the event, please come and LIKE our new race Facebook page.

If you are a local sports club, association or you can download a Community team entry form HERE (Word Version)  or HERE (Pdf) allowing you to put a team in the event for just £10.  There is a limit of 30 of these subsidised places, so be quick and claim yours!

Triathlon has been one of the fastest growing sports in the UK for several years now, with its popularity exploding after the success of GB at all distances in recent years. Alastair and Jonny Brownlee at the 2012 Olympics, Wales's Non Stanford winning the 2013 World Championships and of course Chrissie Wellington dominating the Iron Distance racing scene for several years.

Their levels of performance may seem super human but as a sport it's more accessible than you might think!

What are the Race distances and how much time will I need to train?

Typical race distances are shown below along with a realistic estimation of the minimum time requirement you'll need to set aside to complete the distance and probably not be the last over the finish line.

We are a very friendly bunch, with varied backgrounds, experience and achievement lists. Within the club there are beginners working towards their first events through to seasoned athletes, all training/racing hard, towards their chosen race distance.

Whatever your goals, there are members at the same stage as you.

We are keen to support all members. From those just racing faster in their chosen distance, through to the Iron Man athletes.

We are particularly proud to have a large proportion of female athletes and junior members.

New Members are always warmly welcomed

Please feel free to contact us, and get involved.
