London Heroes

London 2017

A great turn out from Oswestry Olympians at this years London Marathon.

Each runner had a story to tell.There were new club records for

Ali Lavendar (in her first marathon) and Charlotte Jones and notable

PB's for Peter Butler,Emma Langford and Tim Tansley.

Oswestry Olympians March Update

 

Lots has been happening at Oswestry Olympians this past month.

The Oswestry Olympians race schedule has been published.

These are events run by or supported by the club.

There is something for everyone long, short, road and off-road.

Tell your friends because as well as being challenging they are always allot of fun.

Junior Olympians

 Having had team and individual success at the U10/11 Shropshire Cross Champs and Sportshall championships, the juniors are now preparing for the track season. Training sessions continue as usual at the Marches School, 6-7pm for U11's and 6-8 for older children, Thursday evenings and from 28th March there is also endurance training 6-7.30 pm on Tuesday at the Gatacre playing fields. A sunny winters day and good conditions under foot welcomed runners for the final fixture of the North Wales Cross Country League

Oswestry Olympians Senior Men- 13 Men represented the team

Another great run in 4th place from Paul Jones for last time for Oswestry before his move to Shrewsbury. It was great to see Oli Blake run in 14th after his serious health problems . Solid performances from TIm Tansley ,Craig Lammas , Brian Rothera, Steve Roberts. Special mention to Pete Jones in first has improved in each fixture. 141 FINISHERS.

Brilliant Baschurch

A record breaking 29 olympians ( 18 ladies 11men ) made the short trip to Walford for the 4th fixture in the NWXC league . Conditions were gruelling but blessed with a fine fairly mild day . A win for Ali L in her come back trail , Paul J just pipped at the post by Ali's partner Callum Rowlinson . Every Olympian ran their their socks off ...... What a great day

Shropshire Champs Triumph

The Oswestry Mens Vets led the way at the recent

Shropshire Cross Country Champs beating Shropshire Shufferlers into second.

In the mens race Paul Jones ran a competitive 3rd just a few seconds behind

Freddie Huxely-Fielding of Shrewsbury School and winner Paul Ward of Telford AC.

Liam Rawlings easily won the boy u15 whilst Cameron Van Onselen finished 4th in the Boys U17.

Olympians are Winners 2016

 

The Annual awards for the Oswestry Olympians there were multiple award winners and a few surprises.

 

As expected Paul Jones and Alison Lavender held onto their Rose Bowl trophies.

 

In the handicap awards, other than Paul and Ali, recognition should also go to Garry Owens 1st Male Marathon. Ian Lowe and Ellen Ashton won the Fell Race champs and Pete Butler won the Mens Cross Country award.

The coaches award went to Lou Williams for completing her first Iron Man triathlon at one of the toughest courses in Tenby.

Liz Park received a Star Award and recognition for her contribution to the club.

Well done to Richie Collins for retaining theThe Multi Sports Award .
