county xc championships

Written by
Have attached entry form for North Wales Cross Country Championships on 25th January. For those athletes who were born in Shropshire but live in Wales or vice versa you can choose which county championships to enter but you CANNOT run in both. Selection for the inter-counties XC at Birmingham is likely to be made through these championships. Please let me know your preference. The Shropshire Championships are at Lilleshall on Saturday 4th January, 3 in a team to score. There are no XC races organised for U11's by England Athletics, which is why athletes do not pay the affiliation fee. However, there are U11 races at the NW Champs for those athletes who have affiliated to Welsh Athletics.

Summer Training

The final training sessions will be on Thursday 4th July at the Marches School and Tuesday 9th July at Shrewsbury Track.

There will be a standards evening at Shrewsbury on 9th July for athletes to have a final opportunity to be timed at track events and measured for field events.

Athletes are awarded points per each event using the British Athletics scoring system and will be awarded certificates for triathlon, quadrathon or pentathlon at the club's annual presentation evening in the autumn.

Summer competitions

The league meetings will finish next week but there are Open competitions available throughout the summer that athletes can enter independently:

Telford Open - Saturday 14th September (details later)

Three Oswestry Olympians were selected for the Shropshire team at the U11's West Midlands Regional 'Fun in Athletics' competition at Coventry against teams from Birmingham, the Black Country, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire.
